BRB, we’re going offline.
This wasn’t a deliberate choice but a very much needed one. Our phones drowned during a shoot on the beach. We lost so much footage and memories we haven’t backed up because for a change we were kind of lost in awe with… shells and maybe having way too many conversations. And sometimes count on technology too much when it’s so ready to break on us at any given moment.
We decided to call it a break from constant notifications and excessive news and information thrown at us. We replaced our phones with old ones… like really old ones. And decided to dedicate time for the internet instead of being ruled by it, for a change. Our online time is mainly dedicated for girl typo, now. And maybe some memes and garbage. But very, very little garbage exposure.
Doing that kind of forced us to invent activities and do something instead of thinking about being online while offline. I think that’s when we discovered that’s when we’re mostly the happiest… When we’re creating something new that gives us a different feeling and fuels us for the next thing. Sometimes, life gets REAL boring and our hunt for the next stimulating thing online is the most convenient way to get that serotonin. So instead of just consuming from the internet (which can be sometimes a lot of fun) we started creating decorative clay pieces and painting again. But it can’t just be about that… so we started creating experiences as well. We have been biking instead of driving for small nearby errands and skating in the parking lot (because you find out how much time you got in your hands once you’re there).
Your phone doesn’t have to break for you to be able to do that. It’s a choice we should all consciously make every once in a while.
But sometimes reality doesn’t serve us either. Maybe some of us don’t have the freedoms others have. To be able to be out there as much as they would like. Or even performing the simplest or exciting things can be hard to do and we completely understand that.
You’ve got to invent activities and a routine for yourself. Do whatever you can to focus on yourself and mental health. Meditate or exercise if you wanted to. Draw or paint. Astral project to another dimension. Do something that makes you want to wake up tomorrow. So even the smallest, fulfilling thing could do.
